Laminate flooring
Laminate is the toughest floor we sell. It is not wood — it is a wood-grain surface bonded to a dense core under a hardened wear layer, and that construction is exactly why it outlasts real hardwood against scratches, pets and mopping. It goes where hardwood cannot: basements, bathrooms, mudrooms, rentals.
What to consider
- The most scratch-resistant and hardest-wearing floor we stock — it wins on durability
- Stands up to dogs, kids, chairs and a wet mop without the surface giving out
- Not a wood product, which is the whole point of its price and its toughness
- Handles humidity and below-grade rooms that would move a solid wood floor
- Clicks together as a floating floor — the fastest install here, and no nails or adhesive
- A cost-effective way to do a whole level, from basement to second floor
- The trade-off: the wear layer is the finish, so it cannot be sanded back and refinished
